Inspiring Cultural And Environmental Conservation
Ka wai, ka piko; ka piko, ka wai.
The waters of Kawainui
in its many forms: rain, mist, fog, springs, and streams,
is the navel center of our Kailua community.

Volunteer Schedule
Mahalo for your interest in our organization. Laulima is an important cultural value and an important community effort meaning “many hands.” We want to express our gratitude in advance because the time that our volunteers share and commit with us truly makes our organization successful.
Ke Kahua O Kūaliʻi is working with State Parks to cleanup, and revitalize a portion of Kawainui for public use. We want to see Kawainui being used by the community as a place to learn about Hawaiʻi and the culture of Hawaiʻi and to do that, we need the help of volunteers, lots of volunteers! We are a grassroots 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization with a big mission and we need you!
Ke Kahua O Kūaliʻi is a space where men, women, and children, of all ages and backgrounds can come together to learn and participate in ʻōiwi (native) ways of life within a natural and cultural environment.
Ke Kahua o Kūaliʻi offers an opportunity to experience and engage in an active grass roots effort that is working towards cultivating a special and unique place—for the perpetuation of cultural education in the arts and sciences of Hawaiʻi.
Our volunteer workday activities are typically focused on restoration, cultivation, and maintenance of the area overseen by Ke Kahua O Kūaliʻi.
If you would like to volunteer, please make a reservation with us so we may provide a light lunch for everyone and please bring the following items with you. This will assure an optimal experience.
Please also bring a signed waiver form. The document can be downloaded via the Download File link below.
Please Bring:
· Water bottle (we will have a water jug to re-fill bottles)
· Covered toe shoes (Tennis shoes, hiking shoes or rubber boots)
· Long pants & long sleeve shirt
· Sun hat or baseball cap
· Gloves (we will also have some available)
· Sunscreen
· Mosquito repellent
· Aloha for the ʻāina
We also ask that our volunteers come with a sense of mindfulness and to please leave all valuable at home. We haven't had any problems and we are being proactive to keep it a positive space with awesome experiences only.
Please note that there is no bathroom facility on site.
If you are planning to visit us, please make a reservation and please download the waiver and bring it with you.
