Each year, since 2014, Ke Kahua O Kūaliʻi has partnered with community members and hosted Makahiki Nui celebrating Lono-i-ka-makahiki as a winter community event. A time of regeneration, the rainy season is a time to pause, and rejoice in the hard work of the year and a time to begin preparations for the new year.

Lā ʻOhana Roots
"Huli ka lima i lalo" is a proverb that translates to turn your hands down, and its outcome is a focus on productivity; hands working together accomplish incredible tasks. Many years, many hands, and the deepest gratitude to everyone that has spent time gathering and transforming Pōhakea and Palalupe into a special place for practitioners, families, and children. Palalupe and Pōhakea is a place of roots where we make connections.
